Dua Buah Sajak Terjemahan

DEMIKIAN

Alkisah, maka berkata fakir yang hina,
'Siapakah geranggan tuan hamba?"

Adapun jawab Nuruddin,
"Hamba ini tanah
hamba tanah dari hati bumi
tanah berwarna putih hitam kuning
hamba tanah wangi harum kasturi
tanah bermandi lautan ketuhanan
hamba tanah kecil cantik berseri
tanah bersifat akan sifat ketuhanan
tanah terendam air 40 tahun
tanah terpanggang api 40 tahun
tanah beruli air dan api 40 tahun
tanah jasad putih hitam kuning
tanah roh Tuhan Ilahi
tanah sakral lagi mulia."

Adapun pada fakir yang hina itu,
maka fahamlah ia seraya berkara:
"Kalau demikian olehmu, tuan,
maka hamba ini:
tanah yang kembali ke tanah
tanah yang kembali ke Tuhan."

THUS

As the story goes, then spoke the humble seeker,
"Who are you sir?"

Then Nuruddin answered,
"I am this earth
i am the earth from the heart of the land
the earth coloured white black yellow
i am the earth fragrant with the scent of kasturi
i am the earth bathed in heavenly waters
i am a small piece of earth, of radiant beauty
the earth, god-like in its aspects
the earth soaked in water for 40 years
the earth roasted in fire for 40 years
the earth forged in water and fire for 40 years
the earth fleshed out in white black yellow
the earth soul of God Almighty
the earth sacred ang beneficient."

and the humble seeker
understood and said:
"if it be thus sir
then I am:
earth that returns to earth
a god who returns to God."

MENIMBA LAUT
(Satu episod cinta)

Bertahun-tahun dia
menimba laut
dan menggarami tubuhnya
laut tak juga kering
dan tubuhnya
tak juga masin
betapapun, dia
tak bisa berhenti
menimba laut
kerana katanya:
"Di sini, di dalam laut inilah
bertakhta
Tuan Puteri Mahtabul Bahri."

BAILING THE SEA
(An episode of love)

For years he
bailed the sea
and seasoned his body
but the sea did not became dry
and his body
did not get salty,
yet, he
could not stop
bailing the sea
because he said:
"Here, under the sea
is enthroned
Princess Mahtabul Bahri!"
